i世代的幸福與誘惑

今年「華人動畫精選」以專題的方式分為兩場節目：「奇幻的誘惑」與「幸福的滋味」；並特別以華人動畫創作者鮮少碰觸的抽象動畫《i!》揭開序曲。

「奇幻的誘惑」單元中，讓我驚艷華人動畫短片的想像力，從靈異現象、異世界、白日夢、夢境到潛意識的取材，都已經有了精彩的成績。舉例來說，《死神訓練班》與《starrun》節奏俐落暢快，故事又幽默，《夢遊動物園》則充滿了異質的闇黑童趣，又不失社會觀察。《追逐》更是以超現實的圖像與敘事結構，爆發驚人的時代觀察，彷彿一則對於中國社會集體主義與世俗化的寓言與寫照!

「幸福的滋味」單元中，則讓我感同身受到華人動畫創作者的真情與勇氣。舉例來說，《回憶回憶的回憶》與《幸福路上》對於不再復返的時光與親情，充滿著溫暖的思念之情。《勇氣》和《旋轉木馬》則是從過往的遺憾與欠缺出發，卻同時添加了異趣橫生的想像畫面；前者有著青澀的清新之氣，後者則洋溢著華麗的荒謬場面。但是談到幸福的滋味，i世代的作者們卻是見仁見智；《童樂》叛逆了正規音樂教育，《寂寞碼頭》則叛逃了家庭與婚姻!

整體來看，或許動畫本質上的奇幻魔力，正在不斷替幸福的滋味帶來註腳與辯證!

2013 Chinese Animation Film Collection

The "Chinese Animation Shorts Collection" this year is divided into two special thematic programs showing animations of creators from Taiwan, China, Singapore and Australia, namely "The Temptation of Fantasy" and "The Savor of Happiness". The abstract animation "i!" is particularly notable as the opening film, because Chinese animation creators rarely engage in the field of abstract animation.

This year any audience would be amazed by the rich imagination embedded in the Chinese animation shorts collected in "The Temptation of Fantasy" The subject selection of these films ranges from supernatural phenomena, underworlds, daydreams, and dreamlands to the subconscious. All of these subjects have been developed into an extraordinary achievement. For example, "Deathigner" and "Starrun" have humorous plots as well as fast speed action. "Dream Walking to the Zoo" not only brims with dark, and playful qualities, but also offers insightful social observation. With its surreal images and narrative structure, "Chasing" offers striking observation on modern China. It resembles an allegory of and a reflection on Chinese social collectivism and its secularization.

The films collected in "The Savor of Happiness" show the true sentiments and courage of the Chinese animation film-makers. For example, "The Memory of Recalling Memory" and "On Happiness Road" brims with touching memories about their past times and family love. "Courage" and "Merry-Go-Round" address past regrets and scarcity with fanciful and amusing images. While the former carries an immature but fresh and naive atmosphere, the latter brims with splendid but absurd scenes. Moreover, when it comes to the savor of happiness, the opinions of the i-generation film-makers differ. "Children's Delight" describes the subversion of orthodox music education, and "The Solitary Pier" depicts the defection from family and marriage.

In sum, throughout the inherent magic power of animation, these Chinese animation film-makers of the i-generation are continuously bringing the savor of happiness with new visions and voices!
